NYIGF | 2012

This was my first year attending the NYIGF (New York International Gift Fair, at the Javits). It is a huge wholesale show of (mostly) small home goods, handmade items, Christmas stuff, and jewelry. I have mixed feelings about the show… It is so large that it’s a really intense mix of cool stuff and total crap. The wide range of products makes it hard to focus on any one thing, leaving you feeling like you’ve missed something in every aisle. (Note: you probably didn’t).

Here are some highlights from the show:

SkLO jewelry and lighting

AMDC rocked as always- including: Silva-Bradshaw jewelry, Fort Standard home accessories, Steph Mantis Accessories/ jewelry, AKMD home accessories, iHeart eating utensils, Kiel Mead home accessories/ jewelry, Steven Haulenbeek PhotoPaddlesMelissa Zook jewelry, StudioGorm leather goods

Me & Zena – Super fun jewelry, including this pencil ring:

Seventy Eight Percent Bags

Brinca Dada modern dollhouses and toys

Siemon & Salazar had some nice lighting but the Growlight was definitely my favorite. Beautifully designed, this planter’s full spectrum bulb helps your plant grow while lighting your interior space.

Alexandra Von Furstenberg modern acrylic home accessories and furniture

Brevity jewelry

Sara Barner leather goods

Neo-Utility has so much great stuff! Some of the new items I saw at the show are not on their site yet- so keep checking back for more cool stuff!

Triwa watches from Sweden

ROOM Copenhagan reps Lego, Pantone, and Paul frank- so they have some pretty fun stuff.

Eleanor Pritchard Blankets- gorgeous. Eleanor is such a sweet person and has a really minimal/ well done booth.

Tina Frey Designs- molded resin home accessories, dishwares. The molded resin has a really great tactile quality.

Klein Reid porcelain. I love the porcelain and walnut combo:

Zina Kao jewelry had some really great pieces, and a nice display (sorry i don’t have a photo, but there was moss involved and it was lovely). They really need a site redesign though, it doesn’t match the quality of their jewelry. Also, their newest line is not on their site yet, but it is much better than what’s on there now.. maybe check back in a few months… A lot of gold with small semi-precious stones…These are the open heart sterling silver earrings that I bought:

There were a lot of beautiful (often organic) bedding/ linen companies at the show including: Coyuchi, Pehuen, area, Kontex, Yoshii, LinenMe, PomPom at Home, Pine Cone Hill

More great housewares/ Kitchen ware/ home accessories: canvas, Stelton, Kontextur

The new Russell + Hazel office line is so minimal, clean and beautiful. It’s not up on their site yet, but hopefully it will be soon. Lots of acrylic and modern typefaces…

Jenny Krauss handmade, fairtrade, bright and fun!

August Morgan Home had some really fun pillows. (Handmade in Austin TX!) They were all embroidered (some vintage, some new). Her display was so colorful and fun, I wish her site portrayed that same vibe.. the pillows are awesome in person.

I stopped at the Shupaca booth, not for the scarves and other clothing, but rather for these amazing alpaca fur stuffed animals. They were the softest things I have EVER felt! Sadly, I could not buy them during the show :(
