The Tobias Wong tribute show/ charity event (organized by Marc Thorpe) turned out a huge number of people. As we walked out around 12pm, there was a line around the block. Held at Gallery R’Pure, the event raised money for the NYC Children’s Art Fund.

“In May 2010, the New York design community lost one of its most prolific and influential designers of the current generation, Tobias Wong. Blurring the boundary between conceptual art and design, the work of Tobias questioned the value system of objects and pretensions of designers with wit, satire and humor. Brokenoff Brokenoff is an exhibition inspired by the life and work of Tobias Wong. Nine celebrated New York based designers have come together to interpret and reflect the work of Tobias through their unique and individual design sensibilities.Through the lens of Tobias we hope to gain new insight into our work by questioning our personal values, design process and the necessity of humor by remembering never to take life or yourself too serious.”-BrokenoffBrokenoff

Here are a few of my favorite pieces from the show:

"Die" by Frederick McSwain

Timelapse of install . One die for everyday that Tobias lived.

at the show...

Temporary Tattoos by David Weeks

"Call me or Copy Me" by Marc Thorpe

Up for suggested donation (purchase) that night at the show were WWTWD posters by Brad Ascalon.  There were 100 made and 20 were numbered 1/20, and the rest were unreal numbers like 91/50, 51/50 etc… I bought 52/50.
